What is included in the course?
​
You have full access to An Introduction to Oil Painting - The Essentials, the online art course. You will also receive a beautifully designed workbook to accompany 80 minutes of the video lessons so you can practice your skills and take notes. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions through the course platform.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED?
I will provide a suggested material list when you enroll in the course. In fact, an entire lesson is focused on materials so you'll know exactly what to pick up at your local art store! Materials are not included and for a good reason. I believe that building your own colour palette and finding the tools that best suite your style is an important part in developing your creative process. The material list I provide will be a great starting point but I want you to enjoy the freedom of mixing and matching what lights you up and experiment with colours that bring you joy.

How long is the course?
​
The course consists of 7 lessons (80 minutes of video in total) which will prepare you for getting started or advance your skills with oils. The benefit of taking an online course is that you can complete each lesson at your own pace. Although, I know most of you will be eager to start painting as soon as possible, which is why I've created the course with that in mind and suggest doing one lesson a day. You can always go back and revisit the course content since you'll have access for the lifetime of the course.

Not at all. This course was designed for anyone interested in learning about oil paints. I'll walk you through all of the essentials to getting started and teach you all of my favourite materials as well as tips and tricks that I use to create my own art. By the end of this course, you'll be ready to create your own oil paintings!
If i'm an artist, will this course be too basic for me?

That depends. In this course I provide all of the information you'll need to paint with oils. So if you're already familiar with oils, then this could deepen or refresh your understanding as well as give you a preview of how I use them. My hope is to save you time, energy and money by providing all of the tools and my personal tips and tricks so that you can spend more time creating and less time searching the web and buying unnecessary materials. This course will act as a toolbox that you can come back to again and again. However, if you feel confident in your oil painting practice already, then that's awesome! Perhaps you'd like to try out one of my other courses instead, where I teach you how to paint a landscape from start to finish.

WILL I BE ABLE TO COMPLETE A PAINTING BY THE END?
Absolutely ... That is the goal! But, just so you are aware, this is NOT a step by step painting class. Instead, I will be showing you the foundations of my oil painting process which will inspire you to create your own artwork. I will challenge you to use all of the tools you'll learn in this course, discover your own painting process and practice all of your skills by creating something you love! But, if you do want a more in depth preview of how to create a painting from start to finish, then check out my other courses where I guide you through all of the steps from the underpainting to those final strokes.
